The Only Way to Overcome Broken Promises of New Year's Resolutions January 3rd, 2017

The Only Way to Overcome Broken Promises of New Year's Resolutions

"Forever is composed of nows." ~ Emily Dickinson

It comes once a year, you see
The first day of January
Oh how we love to celebrate
It’s the newness that we anticipate.
We jump to change with both feet
Determined that our resolutions won’t be beat
Can’t wait to see the new me
And when this happens, I’ll be free.
Everything starts off good
Just like I knew it would
Then as the days go by
I sometimes forget and the dream begins to die.
Another week has come and gone
The same old same old takes the throne
I’m saddened as I think of the day
That none of my struggles have gone away.
I sit in silence and hear a voice
It says that the reason I’m off course
Is when you look in the future to see a dream come true
You’re forgetting one important clue.
Remember that change is profound
It can ONLY happen in the now
The secret is learning to be aware
Jumping ahead is not fair.
So, got something you want to change?
Or something to rearrange
And you think you don’t know how
Just ALWAYS do it now.

Happy New Year!
