The Real Problem

“Our most beautiful dreams are born from our most unpleasant nightmares.”

Matshona Dhliwayo

The real problem is we don’t share because we fear being in poverty

The real problem is we hide from our truths for fear of lacking quality

The real problem is we don’t reach out because we fear rejection

The real problem is we don’t get close for fear of a loss of affection

I hurt for those who are abused, marginalized, killed and crippled

All this does is create a devastating ripple

From that part of society that ignores, blames, and denies the reason

That it is the fear within that creates this suffering season

The real problem is we hurt because of an empty suffering as we fear life

The real problem is we retaliate, we forget the fear of strife

The real problem is we sit in silence waiting for the sun to rise within

The real problem is the fear that we are a has been

I hurt for those who are lost in their suffering

Not reaching out and looking for ways of buffering

All because of a threat of fear

If only they could see, if only they could hear.
